Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) has been essential in bilingual and plurilingual educational policies. This system aims to prove how collaboration between foreign language and non-linguistic subjects have a positive impact in the field of foreign language teaching. The different departments in our school usually work together to fulfill the needs of multiple contents.

Collaborative work allows team members to open up new possibilities for new solutions and better results. And this is why we have been doing interdepartmental work for years, helping students to cultivate a sense of curiosity which makes them improve their learning process.

At the beginning of the school year, some topics are agreed in order to work with our students from most of the departments. The 3 languages and the non-linguistic subjects work together on those topics trying to give the students a wider angle and perspective on a certain theme to consolidate students’ understanding.

This school year, we have done 4 interdepartmental/integrated projects:

-ESO1: “Fortnite, More than a Game. Healthy Eating and Sport”: Subjects involved: Maths, PE, Biology, Arts, English, French and Spanish. The final activity was a gymkhana in which students had to show what they had learnt.

-ESO2: “The Alhambra of Washington Irving”: Subjects involved: Technology, Physics, History, PE, Maths, Arts, Music, English, French and Spanish. The final activity was a visit to the Alhambra, which couldn’t take place because of the COVID sanitary measures.

-ESO3: “Eating Healthy”: Subjects involved: Maths, PE, History, Biology, Technology, Physics and Chemistry, English, French and Spanish. The final activity was a cookery book with healthy recipes.

-ESO4: “The Most Important Historical Events of the 20th Century”: Subjects involved: PE, History, Maths, Arts, English, French and Spanish. The final activity, a documentary on these facts, made by the students, will be finished next school year as more time is needed to finish it.

Here you can find the results of the projects of ESO1 and ESO3.
